All-Academic Awards Procedure

This work must be completed by the Conference Board while doing their results documents at the conclusion of the conference tournament. The GPA's used shall be taken only from registrar certified academic eligibility forms used for entry into the conference tournament.
  • Any athlete that is listed in the team or individual category must have competed in the Conference Tournament or received an appropriate waiver and were granted a wildcard to the National Championship.
  • The Conference Board should identify any NCWA D1 team that competed with eight (8) or more athletes at their conference tournament.
  • For each of the identified teams, the Conference Board shall enter into a spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets, etc), a separate tab for each team, the following information:
  • name (First Name Last Name) of the athlete who competed at the Conference Tournament,
  • the school name, and
  • the GPA for that student;
for the eight student-athletes with the highest GPA on the team, regardless of academic year.
  • Additionally, the Conference Board shall enter into the spreadsheet, in a separate tab, the:
    • first name (First Name Last Name) of the athlete who competed at the Conference Tournament,
    • last name,
    • school,
    • academic year,
    • eligibility year, and
    • GPA for the competing athlete;
      for any individual student-athlete who completed two semesters of college (listed as academic year SO or higher) and has a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.  Athletes from any team, any division shall be listed here - even if they are listed separately with their team.

      The Conference Board will send an electronic copy of the Conference Academic Eligibility Forms for all teams AND the All-Academic spreadsheet to NCWA Secretary (Lelan Brotherman and a conference chairman designee (Rick Bolhuis) when they submit Conference Tournament Results.

      For each team forwarded by a conference, the top eight GPAs will be used to calculate a team AVERAGE GPA to the nearest thousandth.

      This average GPA will be used to determine the top-10 All-Academic Teams.

      The individual data will aid in determining the All-Academic Individuals Awards.
A sample of the data form a conference would forward to Lelan and designee is found here: http://bit.ly/2x1wMr9
